Art
Art, at its simplest, is a form of communication. Engaging with the arts can help individuals in their personal and professional lives. As most forms of communication have an intent or goal directed towards another individual, this is a motivated purpose. We at NRJH promote various Japanese and Indian art forms and teach them at our Hub.
Amongst many art forms that we promote, a few of them are Origami, Ikebana, Bonsai, and the Martial Arts.
Origami
Origami is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding, where a single sheet of paper is transformed into
various shapes and forms through precise folding techniques. The word "origami" comes from the Japanese words "ori," meaning folding, and "kami," meaning paper. This ancient art form has captivated people worldwide with its simplicity, elegance, and creative possibilities.
Benefits of Origami:
Relieves stress
Enhances patience and persistence
Develops fine motor-skills and supports mental concentration
Boosts creativity
Ikebana
Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arrangement, where flowers and other plant materials are carefully composed to create a harmonious and balanced floral display. Ikebana, also known as ‘Kadou’, meaning ‘the way of flowers’, is not simply about arranging flowers in a vase but is a profound art form that embodies principles of aesthetics, mindfulness, and symbolism.
Benefits of Ikebana:
Has meditative elements
Takes care of mental health
Encourages self expression
Encourages cultural intermingling
Bonsai
‘Bonsai’ translates to ‘planted in a container’ in Japanese. Bonsai trees are carefully nurtured and shaped over time to create a harmonious and balanced representation of nature on a small scale.
Benefits of Bonsai:
Lowers your stress
Maintains humidity
Develops the ability of patience
Good for general well being
Japanese Martial Arts
The Japanese martial arts, collectively known as ‘Budou', have a rich history and are renowned for their disciplined training methods, technical precision, and philosophical principles. Martial arts in Japan encompasses a wide range of disciplines, each with its unique techniques, philosophies, and training methodologies.
Culture
People of India and Japan are guided by common cultural traditions including the shared heritage of Buddhism, and share a strong commitment to the ideals of democracy and tolerance. Na Ra JAPAN HUB aims to promote cultural understanding between India and Japan. It aims to foster mutual respect and appreciation between the people of both nations. To promote culture between the two nations, we organize several events and celebrate both Japanese and Indian festivals at our HUB. The most recent one being a Japanese festival “Tanabata” which was well attended and very well appreciated by both the communities. We also conduct music and dance classes to promote cultural exchange of ideas between the two communities.
